Expert opinion

Luis Gutiérrez thinks:
The heady, meaty, smoky and spicy 2019 VS has an exuberant nose that's really open, expressive and powerful, reflecting a warm and dry year with 60% less rain than the average. The grapes were picked on September 11 and 18 from the vineyards in Traspinedo and El Rosal, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in a combination of new and used barrels for 26 months. This is a serious red for the long haul, a textbook Castilian Tempranillo with very good ripeness and power, 14.5% alcohol and generous but integrated oak that should get more and more integrated as years go by. This cuvée has a very good track record for ageability, produced by very good vineyards on sand, clay, limestone and boulder soils. 48,689 bottles produced It was bottled in January 2022. Vineyard and production

From our own vineyards located in Tudela de Duero and Traspinedo (Valladolid), covering a total area of 70 hectares. The soils, with a balanced texture, are light, filtering, and easy to work, with limestone or clayey-calcareous profiles depending on the plot.
The vintage was marked by a prolonged drought and exceptionally high summer temperatures, which posed an agronomic challenge. Harvesting began on September 1st, with a rigorous grape selection process. The wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. Produced only in exceptional vintages, from the finest plots, it is characterized by its intensity, elegance, depth, and remarkable fruit expression.
